What Makes An Unreached People Group?
There are many different definitions of unreached people groups, but we define unreached people groups (UPGs) as a group of people distinguished by language or culture that are generally less than 2% Christian and lacks the resources to evangelize that people group.
Nigeria plays host to 40 Unreached People Groups (UPG) and 3 Least Evangelized People Groups (LEPG).
An Unreached People Group also refers to an ethnic group without an INDIGENOUS, self-propagating Christian church movement. They are statistically described has having less than or equal to 2% evangelical Christians and less than or equal to 5% professing Christians.
Least Evangelized People Groups refer to people groups who have passed the 2-5% mark but have less than 10% of indigenous believers per total population greater than 50,000 and, thus, remain very significant in the pursuit of missiological breakthrough. Two key people groups that fall into this category in Nigeria are the Hausa and the Fulani.
God has been faithful to the commitment and labours of His servants over the years. However, the task is yet to be finished! The mandate is to see no place left.
